People : Living the Dream


Soraya Patoonsittichai, a  Thai woman with Japanese race, who had her first ballet lesson at the age of five, decided to further her studies in ballet dance in the U.S.A. after obtaining a bachelor ‘s degree in Western dance from Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts.  Driven by love for ballet, Soraya later landed a job as a ballerina for  the Ballet Repertory NYC and the Ballet for Young Audience (BYA), which has been established for 37 years. 

Soraya’s first debut was “The Nutcracker” in which she performed as “Clara” a girl who received the nutcracker doll as a gift for Christmas. Her  second appearance was “Snow White”; in the role of Snow White, the third was “The Little Mermaid” in which she performed as little mermaid;  the fourth was “Cinderella”in  which she performed as Cinderella; the fifth was “Beauty and the Beast”  in which she got the role of Belle, the sixth and the latest is the King and I, in which she performed as Eliza.   The Ballet dance troupe, which Soraya is a cast member, has scheduled to tour the U.S.A. and Canada for the year 2018-2019.
