People : Ariya won the 2018 U.S. Women’s Open in sudden death playoff

 

Ariya Jutanugarn alias “Pro May”  defeated Hyo Joo Kim from the Republic of  Korea  in a thrilling sudden death playoff to win the Championship of the 73rd U.S. Women’s  Open 2018 at Shoal Creek  Golf and Country Club, Birmingham, Alabama, the United States of America on  Sunday, 3 June 2018. This 73rd  U.S. Women’s Open Championship contributed to  Ariya Jutanugarn’s record of  winning her second major title  in 2018;  the first  player from Thailand to win the U.S. Women’s Open of the USGA;  her ninth  career  win on the LPGA tour, and the fifth player in women’s golf         to win both the U.S. Women’s Open and the Ricoh Women’s British Open. This Championship also moves up her World ranking from the Fifth ranked player of the world to the Second.
